The 506 Café will celebrate its one-year anniversary, on Tuesday, April 3, from 11:30 to 1:30, with a goal of serving 100 people through dine in or carry-out meals. The lunch fundraiser is open to the public and takes place at the Waverly Senior Center.
“We are thrilled to reach our one-year anniversary with such great support from the community,” said Cyndi Campbell, Chairperson of the Senior Center. “The 506 Café is a smooth operation now after a year, with much thanks to dedicated volunteer help and a very talented cook.” Senior Center Friends and board members greet customers, serve and clear tables, while the Center’s manager, Kathy Schutte, cooks up a delightful meal each month.
For the April lunch, one can enjoy a dine-in or carry-out meal at the Senior Center of:
Pepper steak over rice, Broccoli/cheese soup, Cabbage salad, Dinner roll, Anniversary cupcakes
“We’d really like people to know that although the 506 Café benefits our area seniors, everyone is welcome to dine in or reserve a carry-out meal,” said Senior Center Marketing Director, Jennifer Jones Ruiz.
“I was reluctant to try the 506 Café with three small children, so we tried the carry out option,” said Ashley Smiley, of Waverly.
The cost of a meal at the 506 Café is $10 and funds raised support the Waverly Senior Center’s mission of providing and maintaining the Center to serve as a central place for programs and services that promote the well-being on senior citizens in Waverly and surrounding communities.
“I have enjoyed having lunch at the 506 Café several times throughout the year,” said Cara McKenzie Shanks, of Waverly. “It’s a convenient lunch option and I love that for about the same cost as eating out anywhere else in town, I can also support a wonderful cause.”
The 506 Café will open on the following first Tuesdays 2018: April 3, May 1, June 5, July 3, Aug. 7, Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 76, Dec. 4.
